Who Am I?

Who is this Dave “The IT Guy” anyway?

Dave is an IT professional who has been in the field since 1998. Having first earned an A+ and an MCSE NT 4.o back in his early years, Dave has had an interesting IT career. Getting his start at a very small company back in 1998, Dave quickly found that the information technology industry was right where he fit.

Starting off as the lone IT guy for a small company in Cincinnati, he had to learn quickly how to resolve issues that came up. Back then with dial up modems and ISDN lines being what most small and midsize companies would be able to afford, there often wasn’t much in the way of being able to hurry up and find answers to IT issues. Often the problems, or the patches and updates to repair those problems, would take many hours to just download.

Since then Dave has moved into networking (having earned his CCNA), virtualization (both VMWare and Hyper-V) earning the VMWARE VCA-DC certification, server builds (initially holding the first MCSE 4.0 and currently holding an MCSE 2012 Server), Firewalls (Cisco, HP and SonicWall), troubleshooting, network planning, mentoring of jr network admins and much more. One of his greatest accomplishments came when in 2009 he earned a coveted Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH) certification. In order to achieve this certification, you must first attend a very intense training session and complete a written test. You also have 30 days to perform a penetration (or hack) of a remote target to earn the CPT (Certified Penetration Tester) certification. David earned his one month later.

Working with a company in Cincinnati, Ohio, Dave has presented to corporations and other groups on how hackers utilize techniques and known shortcuts to compromise your network and access your data. If you would like to inquire about Dave speaking to your group, company or public event, you send an email to contact@dtig.net.
