Your new S4 is not secure

Samsung Knox security software

Samsung Knox security softwareTwo days ago, Israeli BGU Security Researchers indicated they found a major security flaw in the highly touted Knox security system that is incorporated in the Samsung S4. In true ethical form, BGU notified Samsung about their findings. The S4 (and any other Knox protected phone) has already been approved at the Pentagon for use by government and military staff members. Effectively the flaw allows hackers to intercept secure data by tracking email and copying secure data.. The Knox software allows for VPN like encryption and is able to separate work and personal data using Knox. If this is the case, you should be looking for an Over The Air (OTA) update very soon to fix this flaw, or monitor your carrier or Samsung Facebook, Twitter or other news outlet to look for a recall if a physical update needs to happen. I sent them a tweet asking when this issue would be publicly addressed and am awaiting a reply. If you own a device with the Knox security platform it is in your best interest to stay on top of this development, although running out to replace your phone isn’t something warranted this early, as the actual flaw has not been publicly released. Stay tuned for more information when available.
